Suprahigh-intensity interval training (SupraHIIT), involving very intense but brief exercise bouts, is feasible and well tolerated by people with COPD, allowing them to exercise at intensities much higher than traditional moderate training without excessive breathlessness. This approach may improve cardiopulmonary function, muscle strength, and exercise capacity more effectively than moderate continuous training, potentially reducing COPD exacerbations and enhancing quality of life. The intermittent nature of SupraHIIT provides sufficient rest to minimize breathing discomfort, making it a promising option for pulmonary rehabilitation that could accelerate and maximize health benefits for COPD patients.
