WHO Adds Breakthrough Cancer and Diabetes Drugs to Essential List

The World Health Organization has updated its Essential Medicines Lists, adding key new treatments for cancer and diabetes, including GLP-1 receptor agonists and rapid-acting insulins for type 2 diabetes with obesity or related conditions. These lists guide medicine procurement and health coverage in over 150 countries, aiming to improve global access to effective, affordable therapies. This update also includes medicines for cystic fibrosis, psoriasis, haemophilia, and blood disorders, reflecting evolving public health needs and expanding options for preventive and chronic disease management.
